By Local Brownsville news desk
Residents in southern Cameron County will continue to have free, on-demand Uber rides through a renewed partnership between Brownsville Metro, Uber, TRIPPP Consulting, and Cameron County.
The program connects residents to Brownsville Metro's bus network, operating from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM and linking passengers to three routes: Route 6–Southmost, Route 7–Jose Colunga/East Side Transfer Station, and Route 9–Austin.
The renewed agreement is expected to provide approximately 9,936 trips over the next year, with Cameron County covering 60% of the cost and the City of Brownsville and Brownsville Metro contributing the remaining amount.
